Matthews Readers is a program implemented the last two weeks of the 2011-2012 school year. The program is designed to give students their own books to read over the summer months. To be continued on through the 2012-2013 school year, donated books will be given to each student who is willing to participate. With the books given, students are to keep a log of how many books read, and turn in to Mrs. Conner once a month. In turn, students will receive a new book with a new reading log. The goal is to help students build their own personal library.
We at Matthews Elementary encourage all of our promising students to read because, "To read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark." ~Victor Hugo, Les Miserables
